Presented by Music Now, Jesse Maker and I will discuss of best practices for composers and performers when working on new pieces, demonstrate a sample talk-back of a new work, and answer questions about our experiences as collaborators.
October 20: 8pm – University of North Texas
Lecture Recital: Flute Writing
Presented by Composers Forum, I’ll discuss the important considerations when composing for the flute and piccolo. The second half of the event consists of a recital demonstrating many of the concepts discussed in the lecture, featuring works by Jesse Maker, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Kaija Saariaho, and Edgar Varèse.

Solo flute and electronics recital featuring the premiere of Whistleblower for solo piccolo by Jesse Maker.
The program also includes a discussion by Jesse Maker and I about our careers in music.
November 8: University of Central Arkansas

Solo flute and electronics recital featuring works for flute and electronics and Whistleblower for solo piccolo by Jesse Maker. Along with the recital, I’ll be teaching an extended techniques/new music masterclass for the students of Dr. Graham, and Jesse and I will be presenting our lecture, Composer-Performer Collaborations.
November 9: Arkansas State University
